What is a non pro Can't Post

If there are any reiners or cow horse folks out there what are your opinions on how these groups define a Non Pro.

Does anyone think a person with a million dollars in winnings should be a non pro?

thanks,
Mark

Hi Jim,
somehow I dont think the folks winning the big bucks as non pros are paying for thier rigs. The are just open riders playing with the rules to thier advantage. At least thats my opinion.

On another note.....I am starting to look forward to the new horse picture you use.

I think it's fair the way they have it setup with the different earnings Mark. Try barrel racing! We run against the pros everyday. The only place you can run non-pro is aqha and just like reining the barrel racing in aqha is pretty much a joke. Good thing is we've been winning. Wink

Good for you guys......Sly

Can you tell who drug a lead and did not make the cut to get back to OKC this year?Sly Although I did not make it back and there may be a small case of sour grapes I am still not sure the Non Pro is set up to grow the sport.

I will run him next year in his last Derby year and then switch over to cows unless we pick up a baby.

Have a good Christmas.

Mark

Mark,

Are you in the highest class non-pro? I can understand what you are saying if you are in that class. I don't understand why Mandy and some of them even ride non-pro. They are pro's in every sense of the word. Just because they don't get paid on the books they get paid. Tongue

I am not but there sure is some trickle down. With Mandy, Nelle, Ginger etc all running in the non pro class it pushes a lot of really good non pros down to the intermediate level.

One of our good friends, Mike Boyle, is going to be the NRHA president in a year or so and I mentioned this to him in the past and plan on swinging by his place and voicing my concerns again. I have also been kicking around a new class structure that has multiple money catagories. Once you exceed the max you get bumped to the level where your winning put you. It seems that this would push Mandy and others into a catagory where they should rightfully be.

Oh well.....I cant complain too much. My wife and I are healthy, we have been blessed with great friends, we ride better horses than we would expect to and have brave men and women that step into harms way to provide us right to pursue happiness.

Heres to you and your family. I hope they are all happy and healthy.

Regards,
Mark

You know as well as I do Mark that it's not the riders so much as it is the horses. Don't get me wrong you have to be a hand to ride those horses but when you get the cream of the crop that's where the unfair advantage is. You and I get to choose from maybe four or five top prospects. They get a 100 or more to choose from. You and I will NEVER see those really good ones at any price. They see them everyday. It's pretty fair, like cutting, until you get up to that upper level. Once you are there though that's like the wolves on the calves.
