Won't load in trailer Can't Post

I have a TB rescue and she does not want to load. Does not have a bad disposition or fear just doesn't like to load. Tried a slow introduction. She is not scared of new trailer (I have never loader her before). It has been about 5 years. But it is a skill that she needs to have.

What can I do to get her into the trailer. I am going to take this slow and with a lot of love.

Howdy fellow,
I'm new to site but been around a while & understand U'r loading problem! I'm sure U can get as many opinions as emails but mine would be to get with a trainer that has same training and humane values as YOU! You'll be happier with results.
I've used the ole trick & treat method where I feed the horse in trailer & I've tricked em in trailer and I've winched them in trailer BUT I find it's best to train them where they aren't afraid to load! If the horse poses little danger to YOU or himself just keep working with lead rope & buggy whip on back feet. . .don't beat him with whip just tap his legs right above the hoofs and make it uncomfortable to stand outside the trailer!
Sorry to cloud the issue mffarmall, but this is a very easy lesson to learn that can be done safely BUT can be dangerous to YOU &/or the horse if not took serious! wear safety equipment(GLOVES) & stay out of the way of wild horses front & rear! I'm gonna stop here & see if we get any better advise! roho

Mffarmall
As I have stated in previous posts, I'm am a big fan and use the methods of Clinton Anderson, I have attended His weekend clinics and seen his methods in person, he also will talk with you one on one( wait in line) during breaks in the show Clinton Anderson also sells videos on this subject.
and has a weekly program on RFD-TV which maybe once or twice a year its about trailer loading
If you just want to get this one horse on the trailer, get in touch with a local Trainer, if you want to learn a skill
and not have problems in the future, I would advise you to get videos and attend clinics and it don't have to be with Clinton Anderson.
Have you ever lunged/round pen a horse, if so use this and get your horse real tired, then try to load, if he still won't load, lunge/round pen him again, the whole theory is to let him know the only place to rest is on the trailer, if you can go to the next step which would be sending exercises ( on a long lead 14ft., point with one arm extended left and with your your extended right arm & whip tap the ground to get him going) Repeat this again in the opposite direction, this has to be repeated over and over and over again, Do this just out side your trailer, eventually you can just point him into the trailer. This sounds easy but it ain't, you usually work with your horse for hours/days before you see any results. If your horse has been on a trailer before it might take less time. To put this in words is almost impossible, I would have to one finger type for hours ! Good Luck and keep us informed with your success Wink
