Apparantly, to go barefoot according to Pete Ramey of Natural hoofcare it takes a year before the foot is well established to ride without boot on them. His website is www.hoofrehab.com.

With Love and Patience you get alot more done.

I just got my Gracie's hooves cut and she looks good. I like the idea of the temp shoes on the road. I walk along side the road during the summer in the sand. But in the wanter the corn stock stubs can hurt. Love is the way to go but I find that making fun of my horse's big rear end or giving her a bear hug really helps my frustration. But I have learned not to talk about her mama or comment about the questionmark over who daddy was. Them's fighten words

Re: [CJuneau] Barefoot Horses! [In reply to] Can't Post

Hi Folks - I'm new to this forum. and found this thread. I'm aware of this trend, and have fortunately found a farrier who's primary goal is to keep the feet solid and healthy without shoes. I saw a segment on Clinton Anderson's show recently about this type of hoof care - he's using it now as well. If I can dig up the link to the site I'll post it here. They referred to the "Mustang Roll" - the softly curved side of their hooves wears naturally just by use, and that "roll" is what our farrier appears to be emulating. More info to come - I need to be at my other PC.

Thanks,
Steve
