Will a horse eat a golf ball? Can't Post

Here is a strange one. About four weeks ago, I was mowing the front pasture which is closest to the road. I noticed a golf ball in the pasture, but when I stepped off the tractor, I couldn't find it... So I continued on. Today, I was working in the back pasture which is about 1500' feet from the road, and a large portion of woods divides the front and back pasture. Anyway, I see something white across the pasture. I walk over, and what do you know, I find a golf ball about 2 feet from a manure pile. I start to ponder, and I can't see anyone being able to drive a golf ball 1500 feet through heavy woods from the road. The only thing I can conclude, is that one of the horses while grazing the front pasture had eaten the ball...

Is it possible???

Hi Joe!
I don't think it is possible for a horse to swallow a golf ball, as the golf ball would definitly get lodged in the esophagus. Most likely, one of your horses had it in it;s mouth and thank goodness, dropped it. I am looking at one of my husband;s golf balls right now and i just don't see how it is possible. Anyone else have any ideas about this one?

I would have to agree with Christina that it is unlikely that a horse ate a golf ball and passed it through it's body. Ironically, I found a golf ball last week in one of my pastures also. I play a lot of golf but my wife won't let me hit any golf balls anywhere on our property because she is afraid that one of the dogs or puppies will get hold of one and choke to death from it. I never gave any thought to it being a problem for horses.
