Don't know where to put this , So I figured the Thoroughbred Horse forum is the best. Was surfing the net, and found this: (from Gulfstream Park release) "Hall of Fame jockey Jerry Bailey's final career ride is to be aboard Peter Vegso's 6-year-old Silver Tree in the $500,000 Cloverleaf Turf Farms Stakes, the highlight of the four Sunshine Millions races at Gulfstream Park Saturday. Silver Tree brings together one of the most successful jockey-trainer teams in racing history. Hall of Fame trainer Bill Mott gives Bailey a leg up in the 1 1/8-mile turf course feature, which goes as the ninth race on the Gulfstream card." The family and I would make numerous trips a year to Saratoga (NY) Race Track, the thrill of the big and historic track with the horses racing down the stretch always captivated the whole family. We would pack a cooler and some lawn chairs and make a picnic of it as thousands of other people did. The track always seem to have the big trainers, jockeys and horses that were hot that year. But it always had Jerry Bailey. He had become the family favorite, especially with the kids, It seemed he usually responded to the kids, especially the little ones, when they would shout his name , he would respond with a smile, a small wave, or just pausing with his horse along the fence. I just wish to let it be known that a fine person and a great jockey is retiring and although it is minor what he did for the kids, he will be missed.
