As a pasture play ball, my horses prefer the Hippity-Hop balls for kids better than the balls designed for horses. They are generally less expensive and you can find many at garage sales. Plus, they're good exercise for you to hop across the pasture to close a gate and you can use one to stretch your back before and after rides. Used them for years without having one get busted but they do bleach out in the sun and lose their color quicker than the pasture balls. In stalls, I hang those plastic retriever dog trainer "sticks or whatever they are with all the nubbins" on a stout rubber bungee. Young colts growing new teeth really enjoy chewing on them. They also enjoy a good scratchin' post located near where they tend to chill out. A tall stout 4-cornered post such as an untreated railroad tie can do wonders to save your fences, trees, and building structures. Check it for splinters occasionally and take a rasp to it if needed. They are all like big ol' babies so you have to give them plenty to play with, watch what they do when they haven't had a mudhole to play in for awhile!
