ARE APPS NATURALLY TOUGHER Can't Post

Since I have most of my Katrina related repairs now done, I am spending a little time training my 3 year old app and have been noticing some things over the years. I have mostly quarterhorses and they always seem to have more problems than the app. They get more injuries, insects bother them more than the app, they don't take to the woods and trails as readily as the app does, and they have to be fed more to maintain their weight. Is this just due to the breeding of the horses I have or do any of you notice the same traits in your apps versus quarterhorses?

I have a mixed bunch of horses and the two apps I have (gelding & a mare) seem to be no different than the other horses, I have noticed that they are more personal / affectionate than the other horses. Just my opinion
