Horse Farm Machinery Can't Post

I want to find out what others use for work machines on their horse farms?
Any implements you are happy with?
Could do without?
Would recommend?
Would avoid at all costs?
This should get interesting!

Re: [CJuneau] Horse Farm Machinery [In reply to] Can't Post

Here are some of the equipment I use: NHTC40DA tractor with FEL, tooth bar, and 72" rear mower. RUV with trailer. Sprayers and spreaders of various sizes. Manure Spreader. Flexible tine harrow. Chainsaws, brush cutters, string trimer, hedge trimer, and few other small power tools. The flexible tine harrow is very helpful in keeping my pastures nice and clean. Manure spreader can turn the horse poop into fertilizer.

We do have a millcreek spreader but it's useless in the winter as it freezes. We do have a Bobcat toolcat for farm work, but I would like to hear more about the flexible harrow that you use in the pastures, if this would save manual pick up then I would be interested. Thanks Cotton for the suggestions and I welcome any other feedback!Sly

I read about the Toolcat when it was introduced and it looked very interesting. Is it as useful as it looked?
I bought my flexible tine harrow from Wingfield (www.wingfield.com) and it is equipped with draw bar and three point rack. It can be pulled by a vehicle and also tractor which can lift it up when transport from one location to another. The harrow has rows of tines with angles 45 degrees pulled one way and they're 15 degrees pulled the opposite direction. If turned over then it's smooth. I use it to smooth, scratch the pastures as well as break up the horse manures. If you check out the Wingfield web site they provide pretty good information. I found that the people there knowledgeable and helpful. I am also very happy with the unit I purchased.
If you need more information, go to TBN and do a "drag harrow" search. There have been a lot of discussion regarding these kind of attachments.

Cotton,
Thanks for the wingfield website, I will be sure to check it out. Does your harrow push rocks into a row for removal from your pastures? If so that would be great!

The Toolcat has been versatile. I use the bed to haul bales of hay or buckets of manure, my husband uses it for everything else...cutting fields and pastures, mowing lawn, digging drainage ditches, moving screenings or gravel, doing fence repair/construction, etc., etc. I convinced him to buy the Toolcat, as it is like driving a truck, and I think my husband is glad that I did.Smile He loves the Toolcat. Most of our friends can't believe its versatility... we have had skeptics really be stunned at what it does compared to their tractors. Needless to say, we are pleased!
