Just a quick note ot introduce myself. My wife and I have two daughters age 9 and 7. We live on a small (30 acre) farm in central PA. I have been a long time horse lover, and am now a horse owner. Before recently, I was not financially stable enough to make the initial investment. My whole family enjoys riding. We do mostly trail riding just for the fun of it. Two of my horses are excellant horses for the kids on the trail. They just follow along and do whatever I do with my horse. Mine is the alpha, and the most spirited. I have had my 9 year old on him, and she handled him fine. The paint that she usually rides will only give her trouble, if she tries to take the horse out on her own without the other two. She just wants to stay at the barn with her buddies. I have taken her out, and with a stronger hand, you can get her to cooperate. The third, is a QH/Pony cross that is gentle as a baby, and will do whatever you ask of him.
